About Us

We developed this website to highlight the history of the Kerr - Carpenter - Haigis house and to celebrate the fact that it did not fall victim to downtown development, but instead was saved from demolition. The transformation of the home from endangered property to saved structure to restored home is one that we take great pride in. Every citizen of Foxborough Massachusetts should similarly feel that anything is possible when they drive by the building. Together we are capable of great things.

This website was the vision of Jack Authelet, Official Historian for the town of Foxborough and was brought to life by Christian Arcaro, associate member of the Foxborough Historical Commission. Foxborough Historical Commission associate member Emelie Bonin researched the deeds for the property and traced changes to the structure's footprint on available water department maps/Sanborn insurance maps. Evelyn Wright provided census information regarding the past inhabitants of the home. Christian and Foxborough Historical Commission member Kristin Hovey provided the photographs of the home except for the historic photos which came from the archives for the town of Foxborough.

None of the individuals involved in this website has a financial interest in the home or its sale. Instead, we consider ourselves unofficial guardians of the home's past and its connection to the history of the town.

Acknowledgements

Our thanks go out to the following individuals (among others:)

Dick Stevens: Not only for saving the home, but also for allowing us constant access to the property. Without this access, we would not have been able to capture the efforts required to save and restore a historic home, and we would not have been able to capture the successful outcome of those efforts.

Gary Sylvester and crew: While working hard to move the structure, Gary and his crew never grew tired of Commission members taking photographs of the progress. They also took time to address questions and provide details on everything required to move a home.
